Rubi (b. 1990) is an Indonesian artist who holds a Bachelor of Visual Art (Art History) and Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) from Monash University, Australia. Rubi has always been fascinated by the various cultures and spiritual beliefs of Indonesia, the country’s antiquities, and ethnological materials. Her interest was cultivated during her years volunteering at the National Museum of Indonesia and was further developed when she took her Masters in Cultural Materials Conservation from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Rubi creates intimate sketches and watercolour paintings as a means of expressing her sentimentality for the past and her fondness for Nature and Spirit as powerful elements in human lives and experiences. Her paintings also act as documentations of her vivid dreams typically decorated with lush sceneries and female personages.
Rubi holds a Bachelor of Visual Art (Theory of Art & Design) and a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and a Certificate in Art Journalism and Writing from Art Radar Institute. Currently, Rubi is a Master of Cultural Materials Conservation student at The University of Melbourne, Australia. Rubi has conducted various art conservation projects during her studies and taken various commissions for portraits and watercolour paintings.
