Born in 1991, Kelly Limerick is a Singaporean textile artist who specialises in crochet art. Having picked up the skill since she was 7 years old, she slowly developed her own freeform style where she works without a set pattern or design.
Kelly's current line of enquiry concerns itself with formlessness in a medium that is inherently mathematical, uncovering the essence of things within chaos. Her recent explorations investigate abstract crochet forms unbound by geometrical parameters, harnessing the characteristics of different yarn fibres to execute undulating landscapes, sinuous organic forms and delicate latticework, drawing great inspiration from nature herself.
Since 2014, she has been practicing as a visual artist and has been involved in large-scale public art installations, working with brands like Apple, Disney and New Balance. She also created installations for the Asian Civilisations Museum for Singapore Light to Night Festival 2018, Facebook for their Artist-in-Residency Programme, and most recently Esplanade Visual Arts for Singapore Art Week 2020. Kelly has been featured in both Singaporean and overseas media, and in Singapore's Passion Made Possible and Made with Passion promotion campaigns.
It will take some time for the site to reflect this.
